Where to Begin Choosing Your Best Fit

Independent Living

Say goodbye to a big house to clean or yard maintenance, and say hello to retirement and the easy life!

Independent living may look different per individual, but is ideal for seniors who are self-sufficient, but want access to ammenitites & assistance when necessary. You are likely looking at a studio or small 1-2 bedroom apartment in a Senior or Retirement community. You have the freedom to come and go as you please, but you don't have to keep up with the maintenance of owning a large home and property.

Some of these Independent Living communities offer 1-3 meals per day, so you don't have to cook for yourself and you can enjoy your retirement. Others may offer an apartment with a small kitchenette so you can cook for yourself and live very independently, but has less "home" maintenance. Find the one that looks best to you and fits in your budget and way of life.

Assisted Living

You love your independence, but you realize you may need some support moving forward with daily activities like cooking, bathing, dressing, taking medication, or needing transportation. Assisted living gives you the space you love while providing some scheduled assistance.

If you are a social butterfly, find a facility that offers group activities to keep you engaged & active. If you prefer your solitude, the facility you will want to choose may look a little different. Most places will offer both! Studies show seniors who remain physically and socially active, live longer, heathier, and happier lives. Choose where you can find your peace and comfort & stay within your budget.

Memory Care

Typically a Memory care facility is a good fit that usually offers 24 hour surveillance care with meals, activities, health & personal care services, along with transportation tailored to your needs or the needs of your loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's type diseases. Many facilities will help you decide what is best for you or your loved one to customize that care specific to your needs. Let the living facility take care of you or your loved ones so that your loved ones can keep making great memories with you to hold onto long after you are gone.

Skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation/Short Term Care

Covers short-term care due to rahabilitation from a sugery or end-of-life/respite care. Surgery can take it's toll on your body and well being of yourself and family or friend care takers. This option of living can ease the burderns of a loved one trying to care for your medical needs during rehab.

In the case of end-of-life or respite care, this option can give you and your loved ones more time to share memories and time together leaving the medical care to professionals. This is possibly one of the hardest moves to make and your wishes for this type of care and setting should be set up in advance long with a will or end of life care orders to ease the emotional burden from family members or friend making sudden, big decisions.
